The two realities of Marilyn
Details
The ephemeral nature of beauty
This piece represents the duality of Marilyn Monroe, an immortal icon of the 20th century. Her figure appears divided into two parts, reflecting the two phases of her existence:
on the one hand, the sensitive, fragile and deeply human woman; on the other, the sex symbol manufactured by an industry that exploited her without looking at her inner essence. The natural grain of the wood and the organic elements embedded in the resin evoke the passage of time, the ephemeral nature of beauty, and the tension between the authentic and the constructed.
The image of Marilyn, suspended between the two halves, invites reflection on feminine duality, the vulnerability hidden behind fame, and the depersonalisation that ultimately led to her tragic fate. Every detail—the dry leaves, the branches, the cracks in the trunk—dialogues with her story, revealing the strength and fragility coexisting in the same soul.
